Sweden has the oldest tree on the planet!

The oldest tree in the world is a Norwegian spruce named Old Tjikko ("Old Tikko"), which, according to scientists, is 9,500 years old. In 2004, the plant was discovered by Umea Leif Kullman, a professor of physical geography at the University.

"During the ice age, the sea level here was 120 m lower than today, and what is now located in the waters of the North Sea between England and Norway was once a forest," Kullman said. Winds and low temperatures made this tree look like a bonsai. According to the professor, large trees could not survive to such a venerable age.
