The abandoned house of Casa Sperimentale in Rome - a grandiose hidden architectural relic

Casa Sperimentale's house, located not so far from the center of Rome, was supposed to be a real work of modern architectural art, but, unfortunately, was not finished and turned into an abandoned relic that is hidden from all by pine trees and an easily overcome fence. Its name Casa Sperimentale translates as "experimental house." The object is a crazy combination of all kinds of geometric structures, rotating shapes, transparent cubes and multi-level internal spaces.

The birth of Casperimentale we owe to the architect Giuseppe Perugini, who wanted to build for himself and his family not just a house, but a real geometric masterpiece. That's just the work dragged on for decades: starting his creation in the 1960s, Giuseppe never had time to finish it, he died in 1995.

The house was truly an amazing experiment of its ingenious creator. It was planned as modular so that it could be expanded at any time. And the red staircase is the only way to get inside, but it could be raised at any moment, like a drawbridge, thereby completely cutting off the structure from the outside world.

Today, a delightful object is generously “decorated” with graffiti and “conquered” by local vegetation, but nevertheless it still represents a magnificent architectural achievement.
