10 terrible shots of how hurricane Maria destroyed Puerto Rico

It seems that nature is seriously angry with the inhabitants of North, Central and South America. The enraged elements do not leave alone the territory of the local states, falling upon them with all the power of hurricanes, tsunamis and earthquakes. This time, the sunny country of Puerto Rico fell under the hot hand of one of the deadliest hurricanes “Maria”. The last time the locals experienced such a nightmare back in 1928.

The Atlantic cyclone brought a storm moving at a speed of 260 km / h and leveling everything that it encountered in its path. The government of Puerto Rico left the country, having managed to evacuate only a few thousand of the 3 millionth population. “Maria” left 90% of the inhabitants of the island without electricity and headed towards the Dominican Republic, which had not yet had time to recover from the devastating blow of Hurricane “Irma”.

Puerto Rico is an independent, US-associated state, whose citizens have lately advocated more than once joining the latter as the 51st state. Despite 72 billion dollars of foreign debt and territory torn to pieces by Hurricane Maria, Governor Ricardo Rossello is convinced that the country will manage to cope on its own.
