"The path through the crowns of trees" or a walk through the relic beech forests of Germany

Beech is the main forest-forming, climate-regulating and soil-improving species of European forests. It is very appreciated in forestry and, unfortunately, as a result of human life, it belongs to endangered species. Untouched relic beech forests still remained in Germany. One of them is a forest in the Nationalpark Hainich National Park, where we go for a walk.

Beech forests in Germany are included in the list of natural heritage sites of UNESCO.

In the park Hainich created the so-called "Path through the tree crowns" (Baumkronenpfad), through which you can get acquainted with the structure and inhabitants of the beech forest, learn about its value and significance for science.

The tallest tree in the world is located in the USA and reaches a height of 116 meters. The tallest tree in Germany is located in the city forest of Freiburg (63 meters).

"Beech forest" in German is translated as "Buchenwald" (Buchenwald). Unfortunately, this word is primarily associated with the death camp.
