Vivid illustrations dedicated to the Soviet modernist architecture of Armenia

The Armenian graphic artist and designer Nvard Yerkanyan, who lives in Italy, pays tribute to his homeland through a series of minimalistic images dedicated to the architecture of Soviet modernism. According to the author of the project, she created a song of praise glorifying the architectural heritage, which was either lost or underestimated. Her goal was to uncover the magnificence and uniqueness of Soviet modernism, using the magic of colors that focus on simple but fantastic forms of buildings.

Among the monuments depicted is a resort of writers in Sevan in eastern Armenia. It was designed in 1965 and is located above the picturesque Lake Sevan. In his works, Yerkanyan emphasizes his exquisite curved windows and balconies of minimalist forms using colorful gradients.

In his series, the designer praises the charm of many other epic structures erected in Armenia during the years of the USSR.
