The best astronomical photos of 2018

The prestigious international competition "Astronomy Photographer of the Year", Insight Investment Astronomy Photographer of the Year, the Royal Greenwich Observatory has been conducting for 10 years in a row. This year, more than 4,000 amateur and professional photographers from 91 countries of the world became its participants. It was not easy to choose the winner who won the main prize - £ 10,000 - amid such an abundance of talented work. However, in the end, the jury came to the conclusion that they should become an American photographer Brad Goldpoint.

His breathtaking Soul Moving photo, presented in the People and Space category, shows the red rocks of Moab, above which the Milky Way, the Moon and the Andromeda galaxy shine in all its glory, and on the left you can see the silhouette of a photographer taking this shot.
