The Supreme Court said "Victory": you can take backpacks

An important event occurred in the field of domestic air transportation. The Supreme Court of Russia indicated Pobeda Airlines that, in addition to hand luggage, passengers can take backpacks, handbags and other things specified in the Federal Aviation Rules with them to the cabin. Until this moment, “Victory” had its own rules.

At first it was impossible to carry backpacks, even the size of a cigarette pack, then after the regulatory authorities intervened, the rules were changed: you can take everything that fits into the 36x30x27 cm calibrator to the Victory salon. The rest must be checked in and paid for.

On the same side as the Supreme Court was the prosecutor's office. She demanded that the “Victory” comply with federal rules and carry all things from the list for free in the cabin.

The airline’s management did not agree and filed a lawsuit with the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Justice for canceling the clause of the federal aviation rules for free transportation of handbags (briefcases, briefcases with a suit, bouquets of flowers, outerwear and backpacks) in addition to hand luggage (at least 5 kg per passenger).

The court decided to dismiss the lawsuit and clarified that federal aviation regulations must be followed in their current form. Even Victory.

Personally, I welcome the fact that common sense has triumphed. Prior to this, in Victory, I could not fly with the usual city backpack, in which I had a laptop and a camera. Putting all this in baggage would be tantamount to throwing the equipment in a landfill. At the same time, never in any airline did I have problems with any advantage or with the dimensions of my hand luggage.

Congratulations to everyone who flies domestic airlines. Although, I won’t be surprised if “Victory” comes up with something else.

As a cabin baggage in excess of the norm established by the carrier in accordance with paragraph 133 of these Rules, and without charging an additional fee, the passenger has the right to carry the following things: a backpack, the weight and dimensions of which are established by the carrier’s rules, or a lady’s bag, or a bag with a backpack, or a bag, or a briefcase with things;

- bouquet of flowers;

- outerwear;

- baby food for the child during the flight;

- a suit in a portlet;

- a device for carrying a child (a cradle, restraint systems (devices) for children up to two years old, a pram and other devices) when transporting a child, the dimensions of which are established by the rules of the carrier, and allow you to safely place them in the aircraft cabin on a shelf above the passenger seat either under the seat in front of the standing passenger seat;

- drugs, special dietary requirements in the amount necessary for the duration of the flight;

- crutches, canes, walkers, rollators, a folding wheelchair used by the passenger and having dimensions that allow them to be safely placed in the aircraft cabin on a shelf above the passenger seat or under the seat in front of the passenger seat; goods purchased in duty-free shops at the airport, packed in a sealed (sealed) plastic bag, the weight and dimensions of which are established by the rules of the carrier.
