Tenerife for golf lovers

A clear and clear sky, lush green lawns and “eternal spring” are the perfect combination for golf lovers. Due to the mild climate, both in winter and summer, all you need in Tenerife is shorts and a polo shirt, the rest can be rented in one of the many golf clubs. Choose the most convenient club, try on the ball and remember: the border of the field is the Atlantic Ocean.

Some people cannot imagine their life without sports and active entertainment. Playing golf allows you to successfully combine a pleasant stay with light physical exertion, and also gives you the opportunity to enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding nature. The infrastructure of local golf clubs will surprise both a beginner and a professional player, because Tenerife has everything you need for first-class parties.

Better conditions

You can practice blow in Tenerife all year round at the most comfortable average annual temperature - 23 degrees. The sky here is always cloudless, rains are extremely rare. All this is more than a recommendation for a fantastic golf game. It doesn’t matter whether you have ever done it before or not, it’s worth trying at least for the stunning views against which the game unfolds: sprawling tropical palm trees, Canary pines, sheer reddish cliffs, waterfalls and, of course, the ocean, on which an impressive volcano casts a shadow Teide. An unforgettable experience is provided!

Many golf courses in Tenerife are combined with large four- and five-star hotels, which at any time guarantees players the highest level of service. With the help of attentive staff, it is easy to rent golf clubs, balls, even golf carts, as well as order a transfer directly to the field or any other service that will help brighten up your vacation on the island.

Golf courses

Tenerife has eight golf courses, two fairway courses and a green. If this is not enough or you want to change the landscape, then on the neighboring island of La Gomera there is another excellent field - Tecina Golf with 18 holes. A ferry to this island takes only 40 minutes, so playing golf here can be part of an exciting excursion that diversifies leisure activities.

In the southern and northern parts of Tenerife there are golf courses of various difficulty levels. Six of them are located on the south coast, one on the north. Another northern field of the Real Club de Golf de Tenerife is located in the town of Santa Cruz La Laguna, near the airport. This is the second oldest golf club in Spain, imbued with a unique atmosphere. We highly recommend playing it.

All golf courses in Tenerife were created by the best specialists and professional golfers. For example, famous golfers such as Severiano Ballesteros, Dave Thomas and John Jacobs worked on their design. Architect Donald Steel designed a special black platform and created intricate water barriers that will surely appeal to fans of a complex game.

Each field on the island is unique and will be interesting in its own way to players of any level. They have from 9 to 27 holes, and a total of almost 200. If you add to this the totality of all the characteristics of the fields that allow you to apply a different style of play in completely different conditions, then Tenerife can be called a real paradise for fans of this sport.

Golf centers in the south of Tenerife include Los Palos (9 holes), Abama Golf (18 holes), Amarilla Golf (18 holes), Golf Las Américas (18 holes), Golf Costa Adeje (27 holes) and Golf del Sur (27 holes).

Golf centers in the north of Tenerife: Buenavista Golf (18 holes) and Real Club de Golf de Tenerife (18 holes).

If you can’t get to it, you can play golf at any time on the famous Costa Adeje, where tournaments of the professional golf association are held. For example, in 2003 the Spanish Open was held here, and in 2005, 2008 and 2009 - the prestigious Tenerife Ladies Open tournament - the first standings tournament of the Lady's European Tour.
